One of the priority strategic directions of the Faculty is the development of science and the enhancement of the international competitiveness of research activities. As a result of systematic work in this area, the Faculty’s academic staff regularly publish research articles in journals with index in the international databases Scopus and Web of Science, in journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (CQASHE), as well as in international and local journals, including the university journal “Dulaty Bulletin.” In addition, faculty members actively take part in international and national scientific conferences and supervise students’ research activities.

In 2025–2026 calendar year, a total of 219 scientific works were published by the Faculty. These include:
– 5 monographs;
– 17 articles in journals have been indexed in Scopus;
– 1 article in a journal have been indexed in Web of Science;
– 19 articles in journals have been recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education;
– 182 publications in conference proceedings.

Faculty researchers conduct studies in various scientific fields and actively take part in research project competitions and grant funding programs. In particular, 3 faculty members submitted applications for the 2026–2028 grant funding competition for scientific and (or) scientific and technical projects, while 2 faculty members applied for the 2026–2028 “Zhas Galym” (Young Scientist) grant competition for young researchers.

The Faculty includes 9 student research clubs. The main objective of these student research groups is to intensify students’ research activities, foster their creative potential through participation in scientific projects, and create opportunities for students to realize their abilities and professional interests.

Within the framework of the international “Bolashak” program (“500 Scholars”), the following faculty members became 2025 – 2026 grant recipients:

  1. Maya Amirzhanovna Auganbayeva, PhD, Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies – will undertake a one-year research internship at Johns Hopkins University (USA).
  2. Zulfia Rakhmatdildaevna Kurmanbekova, PhD, Department of Journalism and Philology – will undertake a one-year research internship at Johns Hopkins University (USA).
  3. Sarsembayeva Miramkul – Candidate of Philological Sciences, lecturer of the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature, is undertaking a one-year research internship at the University of Sussex (United Kingdom).

In November 2025, within the framework of the academic mobility program, Associate Professors (Acting) Zulfia R. Kurmanbekova and Maya A. Auganbayeva delivered lectures and exchanged academic and research experience at Ege University (Izmir, Republic of Türkiye). This visit contributed to strengthening cooperation between the two higher education institutions and facilitated the exchange of modern educational methodologies and scientific approaches. The meetings held under the academic mobility program further enhanced international collaboration and expanded cooperation in the fields of science and education.

 

The development of science and the competitiveness of research at the international level are one of the faculty's priority strategic directions.

Working in this direction, the faculty's scientific research work is conducted in accordance with the individual work plans of the professorial and teaching staff. In this plan, the teachers focus on publishing scientific articles in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science databases, in foreign, international, republican, and university publications such as "Bulliten Dulaty University", participating in foreign, international, and republican conferences, and leading the scientific work of students.

The scientific research work within the framework of grant-funded projects for the years 2021-2023, under the leadership of the faculty dean PhD G.B. Issabekova, on the topic "CLIL Policy in Continuous Education in the Republic of Kazakhstan: Information-Communication Approach," has been completed. The allocated budget for this scientific project was: in 2021 - 14,411,197 KZT, in 2022 - 11,541,010 KZT, and in 2023 - 12,698,500 KZT. Participants: PhD Kudabayeva P.A. from the "World Languages" department, Master of Pedagogy - Duysenova N.T., and Professor, Doctor of Philology G.K. Abdrakhman from the "Russian Language and Literature" department.

For the years 2022-2024, the senior lecturer of the "Russian Language and Literature" department, Baizhigit Botagoz Sabitovna, is continuing her scientific research work under the "Young Scientist" project. The topic is: "The Poetics of Absurd in Contemporary Kazakh Literature" (Historical-Literary and Social Context). The grant funding amount is 18,936,379.62 KZT.

In the faculty, 2 scientific projects have been funded for research work. In this academic year, 7 monographs have been published by faculty scholars. There have been 192 scientific articles, including 151 in international publications, with zero impact factor, and 41 articles have been published in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science databases.

The number of students who participated in conferences related to scientific and research work is 186. The number who participated in exhibitions and competitions and won awards is 51, including 5 in international, 20 in republican, 26 in local, and 36 from other higher education institutions.

In the faculty, there are 10 scientific clubs operating. The main goal of these clubs is to accelerate the scientific-research activities of students, and through their participation in scientific research, to ensure the opportunity for each student to realize their right to creative development in accordance with their individual abilities and needs.

On September 29, 2023, the senior lecturer of the "History" department of the Faculty of Philology and Humanities, Asel Mukhtarkyzy Tashkaraeva, successfully defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic "Historiographical and Documentary Issues in Abu'l-Ghazi's 'Shajara-i Tarakima'," and received her diploma.

In accordance with Article 3 of the "Rules for Awarding Degrees" approved by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on March 31, 2011, under Order No. 127, and clause 7.8 of the "Regulations on the Dissertation Council of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University" approved on October 21, 2021, Asel Mukhtarkyzy Tashkaraeva was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the specialty 6D020300 — "History".

On December 20, 2023, Albina Abenovna Maksutova, a senior lecturer of the "History" department of the Faculty of Philology and Humanities, successfully defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic "The History of Research on M.Kh. Dulati's 'Tarikh-i Rashidi'."

According to Article 33 of the "Rules for Awarding Degrees" approved by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on March 31, 2011, under Order No. 127, and clause 7.8 of the "Regulations on the Dissertation Council of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University" approved on November 9, 2023, Albina Abenovna Maksutova was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the specialty 6D020300 - "History."

On December 26, 2023, Baizhigit Botagoz Sabitovna, a senior lecturer of the "Russian Language and Literature" department of the Faculty of Philology and Humanities, defended her dissertation on the topic "The Poetics of Absurd in Postmodern Literature and the Methodology of Its Study in Higher Education" in the specialty 6D011800 - "Russian Language and Literature."

"BOLASHAK" SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Two faculty members of the "Philology and Humanities" faculty were awarded scholarships under the "500 Scientists" program on December 20, 2023, by the decision of the Republican Commission for Training Personnel Abroad, to undergo scientific training at leading centers around the world:

  1. PhD Zhamila Temirgalievna Маmyrkhanova, from the department of "Foreign Philology and Translation Studies."
  2. Associate Professor (acting) Zhanar Muratbekovna Zhampesova, from the department of "Kazakh Language and Literature."
  3. The Senior Lecturer of the Department of Practical Foreign Languages, Ainura Raikulovna Nurzhanova, a recipient of the "Bolashak" scholarship, obtained a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs from the University of Southern California, USA, between the years 2019-2021.

The main objective of educational and methodological work at the Faculty of Philology and Humanities is to create conditions that enhance the efficiency and quality of the educational process. The organization and management of educational and methodological activities are carried out by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs.

The Faculty implements 10 bachelor's degree programs, 5 master’s degree programs, and 2 doctoral programs. The content of the educational programs is developed in accordance with the demands of the labor market as well as the needs of social partners and employers.

The student population of the Faculty consists of 2,703 undergraduate students, 75 master’s students, and 11 doctoral students, including 513 students studying under the state educational grant.

The Faculty’s academic staff annually improves their professional qualifications at leading international and national universities and research centers. In particular: Ege University (Turkey), Johns Hopkins University (USA), the University of Málaga (Spain), Schwäbisch Gmünd University (Germany), the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools Center of Excellence in Education, the National Center for Professional Development “Orleu”, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and other educational and research institutions. Faculty members actively participate in scientific and methodological conferences, seminars, and training programs.

The Faculty is fully provided with the necessary educational and methodological as well as material resources required for the implementation of educational programs. The faculty buildings are equipped in accordance with sanitary standards and fire safety regulations. Classrooms, computer laboratories, study rooms, libraries, dormitories, and sports complexes comply with established regulatory requirements.

In order to ensure the effective implementation of educational programs, systematic work is carried out to update and improve the Faculty’s material and technical infrastructure.

The main purpose of educational and methodological work at the faculty is to create conditions that can improve the efficiency and quality of the educational process. The management of educational and methodological work is carried out by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs. Methodical work at the departments of the faculty consists of a set of measures aimed at:

  • providing the educational process with educational and methodological complexes
  • improving the pedagogical skills of teachers, the implementation of classroom and independent work of students,
  • automation of technological processes and telecommunications for specialists trained by the faculty, improvement of all forms, methods and forms of academic work at departments, taking into account the prospects for development and the state of energy.

The solution of tasks that ensure the achievement of the goal of methodological work is carried out at the departments of the faculty in the following forms:

  • educational and methodological work aimed at the implementation of teaching methods of the discipline, direct methodological support of the educational process, the introduction of recommendations developed as a result of research work, improving the pedagogical qualifications of the teaching staff;
  • educational and methodological work is aimed at enriching the transferred experience, prospects for the development of the educational process, the implementation of its content and teaching methods, the search for new principles, principles, methods, technologies and forms of organization of the educational process.

        The faculty is provided with all the necessary educational, methodological, and material resources required for the implementation of its educational programs. The faculty buildings fully comply with sanitary regulations and fire safety standards. Classrooms, laboratory facilities, subject-specific rooms, dormitories, sports complexes, and other facilities are equipped in accordance with established norms and regulations.

International and domestic academic mobility of students

In the 2025–2026 academic year, 13 students of the faculty studied at partner universities abroad under the outgoing academic mobility program. The students studied at such universities as the University of Málaga and the University of Huelva (Spain), the University of Latvia (Latvia), Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), Lanzhou University of Technology (China), and Kastamonu University (Turkey).  Within the framework of the internal academic mobility program, 25 students studied at partner universities in Kazakhstan during the 2025–2026 academic year.

Attracting Foreign Scholars and International Programs

Within the framework of the program of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, foreign scholars were invited to the university. Professors Nur Islami and Annisa Permata Islami from Riau University (Indonesia) delivered lectures and conducted academic activities in the fields of Earth Sciences and English Philology.

As part of cooperation with Lanzhou University of Technology (China), Chinese language instructors Luo Juanjuan, Wang Haixiao, and Wang Xiaoli were invited in 2025.

Under the PAS (Pacific Asia Society) program, students and lecturers from the Republic of Korea visited Dulaty University in 2025–2026, where educational and cultural events were organized.

In addition, invited lecturers are working at the university through international programs, including Korean language instructor Song Yu Ha and Fulbright English language assistant Emma Katharina Kim.

Kuanysh Bakhytuly is a graduate of the educational program 6B01700 – Training of Kazakh Language and Literature Teachers (2010–2014).

Starting from March 2, 2026, Kuanysh Bakhytuly has been appointed Head of the Education Department of the Zhambyl District under the Education Department of the Akimat of Zhambyl Region.

Erbolat Baiuzakuly Saurykov is a Kazakhstani scholar and statesman, a member of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan (VIII convocation).

In 1989–1994, he graduated from the Zhambyl Pedagogical Institute with a degree in Kazakh Language and Literature Teacher Training.

He has been awarded: the “Yeren Enbegi Ushin” Medal (For Distinguished Labor) – 2015, the “25 Years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan” commemorative medal – 2016, the “25 Years of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan” commemorative medal – 2020, the “30 Years of Independence of Kazakhstan” commemorative medal – 2021, the Order of “Kurmet” – 2022.

Ruslan Imankulov is the official representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Tatyana Sergeevna Borisenko is the Editor-in-Chief of “Znamya Truda,” the Zhambyl Regional Newspaper Editorial Office LLP.

Kanat Korkemzhan Bakhytzhankyzy works as a Senior Manager in the Public Relations Department of the International Programs Center JSC.

In 2016–2020, she graduated from Taraz State Pedagogical University with a degree in 6B01700 – Training of Kazakh Language and Literature Teachers.

Later, she completed her Master’s degree at M. H. Dulati University, and in 2025 she graduated from the doctoral program 8D01701 “Training of Kazakh Language and Literature Teachers.” She is the recipient of the following titles: “Student of the Year – 2019”, “Young Scientist – 2019.”

Dina Mukharinova is the Press Secretary of the Southern Military District.

Zhanna Burkitbayevna Ongarbayeva is the Principal of Secondary School No. 51 in Taraz.

Maraltai Raiymbekuly is a poet and laureate of the international “Alash” Prize. In 2018, he completed a Master’s degree in Philology (Kazakh Philology).

Qyrbas Bereke Qurmanbayqyzy - She is a graduate of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies. She studied there from 1999 to 2003. She is currently the director of the translation agency "World of Translations" and a highly sought-after translator in our city.
